Addressing Racism and Racial Trauma in Behavioral Healthcare

Behavioral health providers are trained to provide competent and evidence-based services to all individuals, regardless of their background. However, racism in the field persists in spite of our best efforts to address unconscious bias. This, in addition to the underlying currant of racism in American culture, means that racism can often play out in the therapy room despite best intentions. In this panel discussion, you’ll hear three experts in the field discuss ways behavioral health providers and organizational leaders can help address racism and racial trauma in their services.
