Addressing Racism and Racial Trauma in Behavioral Healthcare

About This Webinar

Behavioral health providers are trained to provide competent and evidence-based services to all individuals, regardless of their background. However, racism in the field persists in spite of our best efforts to address unconscious bias. This, in addition to the underlying currant of racism in American culture, means that racism can often play out in the therapy room despite best intentions. In this panel discussion, you’ll hear three experts in the field discuss ways behavioral health providers and organizational leaders can help address racism and racial trauma in their services.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe ways racism affects the mental health and well-being of Black Americans.
  2. Summarize the impact of racial trauma on Black clients and clinicians alike.
  3. List strategies for addressing and mitigating the risks of racial trauma in your organization.
