Relias Press Room Relias Releases Stories To Amplify Nurse Voices Published: March 29, 2022 Front-line nurses share their personal experiences and stories in newly released e-book with support from Verizon Relias, a software company specializing in education solutions for healthcare providers, curated and released an e-book sponsored by Verizon featuring first-hand testimonials from working nurses around the U.S. The e-book consists of 15 stories selected from more than 200 submissions received over a seven-month period. The call for these stories was made via Nurse.com, a Relias company that has served as a trusted, go-to resource for nurses for more than 30 years. In addition to nurses’ experiences working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, topics range from discussing the people and events that brought them to the profession, as well as struggles with their own illnesses and overcoming adversity. “Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses and healthcare workers have received higher public visibility, while their experiences and who they are as people remain largely in the shadows,” said Felicia Sadler, MJ, BSN, RN, CPHQ, LSSBB, Vice President of Quality for Relias. “This project represents a concerted effort to correct that and give nurses the platform they deserve to tell their own stories. The submissions we chose are just a tiny sample of the humility and perseverance with which all nurses everywhere approach their work every single day. To read them is a truly moving experience, and we’re honored to have the opportunity to share them with the world.” With origins as a print magazine, Nurse.com has been sharing nurses’ stories for over 20 years. The Nurse Stories program was created to amplify nurse voices and highlight individual, real-life experiences to help demonstrate the diversity and distinction that the profession brings to health care. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are nearly 3 million registered nurses in the U.S. as of May 2020. This does not include 211,000 nurse practitioners, 676,440 LPNs and LVNs, and several other areas of nursing. Nursing professionals comprise a significant part of healthcare workforce. The Nurse Stories program celebrates nurses and encourages them to use their own voices to share their experiences. These stories serve to bridge distances during a time when connection is needed the most. Sadler said, “We hope these uplifting stories help those who read them to find parallels to their own experiences and achievements and use that common ground to inspire others. We want nurses everywhere to know that you are seen and appreciated, and we thank you for keeping us all safe and healthy throughout the pandemic.” The e-book is available for download at Nurse.com.
