Relias Academy to Offer New Caregiving and Dementia Training Courses as Part of Caregiving 101 Initiative

Courses and programs designed for healthcare professionals, front line staff and families to ensure continuity of care and approach while improving quality of life and reducing costs of care for households, organizations and governments.

CARY, NC, May 1, 2018 – Relias, focused on reducing variation in care for more than 7,000 clients around the world and across the continuum of healthcare, today announced the upcoming release of several new programs for healthcare providers and family members caring for people with dementia and others requiring long term care assistance. The first program, which launches April 30, 2018 is the Caregiving 101 – Home & Personal Care Program and will be available via the company’s Relias Academy online portal.

This five-hour program focuses on several aspects critical to training caregivers, including: physiological changes, verbal and non-verbal communication, activities of daily living and suitable activities for those with dementia. The Caregiving 101 – Home and Personal Care Program will be followed in June 2018 by a Family Caregiver Education Series which has been requested by many of the healthcare providers currently served by Relias.

The Family Caregiver Education series is designed to complement the training received by long- term care professionals. Together, these programs provide a foundation for continuity of care while helping to reduce the cost of care through education and prevention.

In addition to those programs, Relias Academy will launch a Dementia Care with Montessori Approach training program for professionals across the health care spectrum in May 2018.

“We’re excited to be able to provide these programs, which offer the latest in training for those that care for people with dementia,” said Mark Belles, COO of Relias. “We’re pleased to provide these solutions which speak directly to the needs of many of our clients.”

These innovative educational courses can be purchased as stand-alone programs on Relias Academy or as added benefits to existing client accounts. Family and Home Care caregivers need access to the same educational programs that are offered to long-term care organizations, and these programs make better educational opportunities available to this fast-growing segment of healthcare.

“These programs were designed to address many of the issues facing family caregivers, long- term care professionals and hospital systems in one easy to access education package,” said Scott Silknitter of Caregiving 101. “Working together, Relias Academy and Caregiving 101 can quickly reach millions of family caregivers served by thousands of hospital systems, long-term care organizations and Home Care Agencies so families can use the same techniques and approaches that professionals do”.
