Relias Kicks Off 2019 with the Launch of Two New Clinical Solutions – Relias HACs & Relias Sepsis

Personalized learning solutions address preventable health issues, reduce costs.

CARY, NC, January 22, 2019 – Relias, a trusted partner to more than 10,000 clients around the world, today announced the launch of two new clinical solutions, Relias HACs and Relias Sepsis.

These products, available now to Relias clients, showcase the company’s continued investment in developing personalized learning solutions to address the biggest issues in healthcare.

Personalized learning provides a tailored learning path for each clinician. The learner starts with a comprehensive assessment that evaluates knowledge and judgment, benchmarking scores against national averages, and quantifying individual, group, and organizational variation. From there, Relias’ patented algorithm uses each clinicians’ assessments to prescribe targeted and prioritized education to address deficiencies and bypass areas of proficiency.

“Over the last 18 months we have made a considerable investment into personalized learning,” explained Relias CEO, Jim Triandiflou. “Our goal is to help hospitals and health systems improve outcomes and reduce risk by elevating the performance of their clinical teams in important areas, including hospital-acquired conditions (HACs) and sepsis.”

HACs and/or sepsis-associated morbidity and mortality can often be prevented or mitigated through the consistent, proper application of evidence-based practice guidelines. This has an impact on patient outcomes and can help reduce costs substantially. Relias HACs and Sepsis both offer a powerful learning opportunity through highly engaging and interactive clinical scenarios that educate clinicians on the impact of various diagnostic and management decisions.

HACs continue to affect both patient and financial outcomes, with approximately 3 million cases annually, resulting in over $2 billion in excess hospital costs. Relias HACs’ content is designed for nurse and physician providers working in medical-surgical and critical care units within a hospital—where a large percentage of HACs originate and/or are managed clinically. Relias HACs covers central-line associated blood stream infection (CLABSI), the costliest HAC by case average, and catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), one of the most common HACs. Sepsis, often referred to as the ‘silent killer,’ is the leading cause of death in U.S. hospitals and the leading cause of readmissions. More than 750,000 people in the U.S. alone are diagnosed with sepsis each year, resulting in 200,000 deaths and costing billions in healthcare dollars. Relias Sepsis includes comprehensive content on prevention, early identification, and management of sepsis for medical-surgical and critical care unit providers and nurses.
