Relias Press Room Relias Named 2022 Leader in Diversity by Triangle Business Journal Published: September 19, 2022 Healthcare education solutions company part of esteemed group of N.C. Triangle businesses recognized for leading diversity efforts Relias, a software company specializing in education solutions for healthcare providers, has been recognized as a 2022 Leader in Diversity by the Triangle Business Journal (TBJ) for a second time. Operating from the heart of the Research Triangle Park in Morrisville, NC, Relias partners with over 11,000 healthcare client organizations and employs more than 800 people worldwide. “From our earliest days as a startup in 2012, creating an environment at Relias where every single employee is celebrated and supported has been a constant priority,” said Kelli Slade, Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging at Relias. “Our efforts to nurture a culture that prioritizes diverse voices and the opinions and experiences behind those voices are focused and deliberate. We received this award in 2020, and we’re really happy to get the recognition again — but there’s always work to be done, and we’re continually focusing on how we can improve.” Winners of the award demonstrate respect for inclusive treatment of others, advocacy for underrepresented groups, multicultural marketing, and other attributes. This year’s class features 20 winners — 10 individuals and 10 companies — from a number of industries such as finance, healthcare, life sciences, and education. The Leaders in Diversity Awards program, now in its 10th year, is designed to recognize the accomplishments of area Triangle businesses, individuals, and nonprofits as they come together to weave a diverse foundational fabric into the heart of the local community. “This year’s group of winners is at the front and center of changing their organization’s vision, values and principles — all along keeping diversity, inclusivity and equality in mind,” said Jason Christie, TBJ market president and publisher. “We’re glad to have created a forum to celebrate the achievements of these individuals and corporations.” Both Relias employees and managers are required to take courses covering cultural competency, diversity, and communication. In particular, managers are trained on coaching and providing productive feedback on how to create a psychological safe space within their teams, what discrimination and micro-aggressions look like, and how to support employees on a day-to-day basis. “It’s not enough to just look at how hiring practices can be improved to better serve underrepresented candidates — it never has been,” said Tina Krebs, Relias Chief People Officer. “Companies must support everyone in meaningful, measurable ways that matter to the employee. We’re honored that TBJ has recognized our efforts again, and we’re excited to continue to find ways we can help every single Relian feel they are valued and supported.” Relias is committed to staff development and training to help provide its employees the support and growth opportunities they need to develop meaningful careers and to promote an inclusive work environment. As part of this effort, the company provides safe spaces for peer-to-peer conversation and empowerment, addresses topics like racism and gender equality, and supports employee resource groups that focus on diversity and inclusion. Relias, along with other winners of the TBJ award, will be recognized during an in-person lunch Oct. 12 at The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, N.C. TBJ will also profile the winners in a special section to be published in its print edition on Oct. 14.
