Relias wins Google Cloud Healthcare and Life Sciences Customer Award for innovative use of cloud technology to address healthcare workforce crisis

Relias, a trusted partner to more than 11,000 healthcare organizations and 4.5 million caregivers, received a Google Cloud Customer Award for Healthcare and Life Sciences. Relias was recognized by Google Cloud for its achievements and for demonstrating innovative thinking, technical excellence, and  developing a tool to help address the healthcare workforce crisis.

Relias Google Cloud Customer Award

With an annual turnover rate of 17%, nurse turnover is a significant problem in the U.S. that puts patient safety in jeopardy and places organizations under financial strain, averaging additional cost between $40k-$60K per nurse. In 2019 there were roughly 3 million nursing jobs with an expected growth rate of 12%, making nurse turnover a $22-34 billion problem annually.

Relias, a Bertelsmann Education Group company, sought to use its expertise in healthcare education and learning software to address the workforce crisis facing the healthcare industry. By partnering with Google Cloud and leveraging existing and established technologies and services, Relias was able to build a strong mobile and intuitive platform experience for nurses and healthcare organizations.

“We are taking on the very real global challenge of nursing shortages,” said Darius Matthews, Senior Vice President, Integrations at Relias. “Google Cloud’s sustainable cloud gives us the confidence that our contribution will scale as we work to address this significant issue.”

This award was presented October 12 at Google Cloud Next ’21.

Relias’ new solution will officially launch in 2022.
