Relias Releases Virtual Classroom to Assist Healthcare Clients in COVID-19 Response

MORRISVILLE, NC, April 8, 2020 – As a part of its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Relias, specializing in healthcare education solutions and services, released a new feature on their learning platform that allows their 10,000 plus healthcare clients to host live trainings online. The timely feature, named Virtual Classroom, was released over nine months ahead of schedule to help healthcare providers safely train incoming personnel while minimizing, and in some cases eliminating, in-person interaction.

The urgent need for social distancing restricts an organization’s ability to effectively onboard new staff and conduct in-person training. The new Virtual Classroom feature gives Relias Platform administrators the ability to set up live training events with full interactivity—including instructor/learner dialog, presentations, and digital whiteboard—without compromising the health and safety of their staff. The early release of the Virtual Classroom feature on the Relias Platform will allow clients to conduct onboarding presentations, protective measures training, and other live educational events safely amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Relias demonstrated the Virtual Classroom to select clients prior to release to validate market utilization, test features and gather feedback. Lynn White Sohn, Staff Development Manager for Ontario Arc, shared, “I’m telling you it’s fantastic. It [Virtual Classroom] couldn’t have come at a better time.” Lynn explained, “We’re trying to figure out what to do because right now we’re not doing any live trainings…we don’t know how long this is going to last, and I don’t want to keep backing people up because we keep cancelling.”

In response to the spread of COVID-19, Relias stepped up development to push up the release of Virtual Classroom by more than nine months and is providing clients with free access to its core features through the rest of 2020.* In addition, Relias is sharing its education and training resources to help organizations and communities easily obtain accurate information and tools to help navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. The free digital toolkit, created for healthcare personnel and individuals, includes unrestricted access to online courses and resources on infection prevention, telehealth and more.

“During this difficult time, Relias remains committed to providing ongoing support to our clients and partners working on the front lines,” says Stacy West, Vice President of Marketing. “We are confident that the early release of Virtual Classroom will alleviate some of the enormous challenges our clients are currently facing by enabling just-in-time learning, which is paramount during this time.”

The full-featured version of the Virtual Classroom is scheduled to launch by early 2021.

*Updated from original timeline of three months to free access through remainder of 2020.
