Using Data to Inform and Improve Care Delivery

Julia Kyle, Director of Integrated Healthcare Initiatives at Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority (DWMHA), stopped by the Relias booth at NatCon 18 to talk about how DWMHA is using data to inform program development and improve care delivery for complex, hard-to-reach populations.

DWMHA is the largest and most diverse public behavioral health system in Michigan, serving approximately 80,000 individuals and their families. Detroit is the poorest major city in America, with over 39% of its population living below the poverty line of $24,008 for a family of four (U.S. Census Bureau 2016).

“…when we target [people in our network not taking their antipsychotics], and we use our programs to find them, to outreach, we’ve actually had a 70% decrease in hospitalization rates.”
