Relias Press Room Relias CEO Jim Triandiflou Recognized as Triangle Business Journal’s Business Person of the Year Published: December 19, 2017 Explosive growth, commitment to expanding employment opportunities in community and execution of strategic vision contribute to honor CARY, NC, December 19, 2017 – The Triangle Business Journal has bestowed its 2017 Business Person of the Year Award on Jim Triandiflou, CEO of Relias. Triandiflou was chosen for the award by a consensus of the editorial staff of the publication, which has been recognizing local business leaders for their outstanding efforts since 2004. Previous winners include Neal Hunter, co-founder of Cree Inc. (2004), Dennis Gillings, founder of Quintiles (2007), Jim Whitehurst, CEO of Red Hat (2011), and Ashley Christensen, owner of AC Restaurants (2014). Triandiflou joined Relias in 2012 as CEO. During his tenure, he has worked to build a world class organization by recruiting top talent – the company has added more than 500 employees since his arrival – and championed a vision of exemplary customer service along with an emphasis on product innovation, two critical areas to serving Relias clients and creating Relias’ culture. In 2017, Relias announced the company would change its name from Relias Learning to Relias, better reflecting the breadth of solutions it offers to the healthcare industry. Relias also announced plans to move to a new, larger facility in the Triangle area in 2019. “Jim is an absolute expert in the health and education sector; he is an entrepreneurial, creative and fast thinker, and he cares equally deeply about his employees and his clients,” said Kay Krafft, CEO Bertelsmann Education Group. “Under his leadership, Relias has massively expanded its customer base in the past few years, launching into new business areas and expanding internationally. At Bertelsmann Education Group, we are very happy to have him at the helm of our fast-growing healthcare education business.” In addition to his work as CEO of Relias, Jim has recently been named Chairman of the Board of Directors of Special Olympics, North Carolina. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for Triangle-based Dude Solutions, as well as Navex Global, a Portland, OR based provider of ethics and compliance software. “It was a very competitive process this year,” said Sougata Mukherjee, editor of the Triangle Business Journal. “In the end, Triandiflou was a unanimous decision after the entire newsroom discussed the qualifications of the finalists — deliberations that lasted for several hours. We look forward to reporting on Relias’ growth curve in 2018 and Triandiflou’s increasing engagement with the greater Triangle community. Awards such as this often reflect the importance of corporate citizenship.” About Relias For more than 11,000 healthcare organizations and 4.5 million caregivers, Relias continues to help clients deliver better clinical and financial outcomes by reducing variation in care.
