Relias Learning Welcomes Dr. Mabel Miguel as Speaker to Inaugural Relias Women’s Leadership Initiative Event

Professor at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School to address issues of power and influence in the workplace at kickoff event

CARY, NC, January 18, 2017 – Relias Learning, the leader in online training solutions for the healthcare market, today announced that Dr. Mabel Miguel would be the featured speaker at the inaugural event of the company’s recently established Relias Women’s Leadership Initiative. Dr. Miguel, who serves as the Director of the Global Business Center at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School will present a talk entitled, “Understanding & Managing Power, Politics & Influence” on Thursday, January 19 to members of the Relias Learning staff.

Navigating one’s career has always been challenging, and dealing with the complexities of communication in the workplace is still a difficult issue for many, as Dr. Miguel notes, “Discussing Power: how much you want it, how much you have, how best to get it and use it…is one of the enduring ‘taboos’ in organizations.”

The Relias Women’s Leadership Initiative was launched at the end of 2016 with the mission to educate and empower women to navigate and develop their careers, allowing them to lead by example and invest in one another. It is one of several internal initiatives recently launched by employees of Relias Learning to support issues they feel passionately about.

“The Relias Women’s Leadership Initiative exemplifies the type of career development and grassroots programs our employees are proactively initiating and that we, as an organization, support wholeheartedly,” explained Jim Triandiflou, CEO at Relias Learning. “We’re thrilled to have Dr. Mabel Miguel join us for our inaugural RWLI event. Her accomplishments and experience will provide a wealth of insights for all attendees at the event.”
